I did really enjoy it and it definitely captured my emotions but there were moments where I was saying to myself "get on with it". However, it is definitely a book to lose yourself in and if you're interested in art and art history then this book, which is loosely based on facts about Rembrandt's life, is definitely a good recommendation. I also like that in the author's notes at the end Devereux explains why she wrote the book and her approach towards the writing process; "Rembrandt's Mirror therefore, is not intended as a proclamation of facts or beliefs but as a means of transport" and it does just that. Transports you around love, death, life, religion, philosophy and society.
